Beer & Benevolence is the philanthropic branch of Dogfish Head. Back in the late 90s ‘Beer & Benevolence’ was a tagline on the back of a Dogfish Head baseball cap. We fell in love with the sentiment and soon the simple words morphed into the driving force for how we give engage with our local communities. Dogfish Head’s Beer & Benevolence program, is how we give back to the communities that have nourished our roots in coastal Delaware. We’re proud to support great work taking place in our home state by collaborating with nonprofit organizations that amplify the arts, improve our environment & those who build community. We sell beer in lots of amazing places, but know that impactful benevolence must start in your own backyard.

Beer & Benevolence supports hundreds of non-profits annually through product donations, charitable contributions, and collaborations. Our direct investment into our communities typically surpasses $500,000 annually. How do we do it? And how can you help?

Glad you asked! There are a lot of ways Beer & Benevolence comes to lives – many of which let you get involved:

Benevolence Nights happen at Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats, our brewpub in downtown Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. For each Benevolence Night, we invite a non-profit partner to come share their mission and impact with our guests. We donate 10% of sales from each Benevolence Night to our partner. Come out, enjoy dinner or a drink on Benevolence Night to support those organizations making impact in our communities! Click here for our calendar of upcoming Benevolence events. Benevolence Beers are brewed at our Rehoboth brewpub four times a year in partnership with local organizations that amplify the arts, improve our environment or build community. Our brewing and creative teams work with the partner organizations to come up with a unique beer recipe and can art. Dogfish Head makes a donation to each organization when the beer hits the shelves and taps. Swing by the Rehoboth Beach brewpub to enjoy our next Benevolence Beer release.

Brewery Benevolence Tips: Each month we select non-profit partners for our Benevolence Tips program at the Milton brewery Tasting Room. Throughout the month we raise awareness about their work and guests are invited to support the cause with a ‘tip.’ 100% of Benevolence Tips are donated directly to our non-profit partners. In 2023, our guests donated more than $240,000 in Benevolence Tips for dozens of non-profits across southern Delaware.

Benevolence Days: Throughout the year we send teams of coworkers into the community for one-day service projects with non-profit partners. Coworkers who opt in for a Benevolence Day appreciate the opportunity to make impact while working in new ways with other coworkers from across our team. And it’s win-win, as we provide the people-power to help our partners tackle some much-needed work!

The Dogfish Dash: Every September we DASH to support the environment. The Dogfish Dash (link to the Dogfish Dash page) is an off-centered run, starting and ending at the Dogfish Head brewery in Milton, DE. The course and the distance vary a bit – but there’s always a great after party. If you really wanna do your part for the environment, dash in a costume made from recycled materials (groups and individuals can win some great prizes). Since 2006, the Dogfish Dash has raised more than $1,100,000 for local environmental causes!

Benevolence comes to life at our Dogfish Head events like our Analog-A-Go-Go, our Punkin Ale Fest and our Weekend of Compelling Ales & Spirits. At each event, you’ll find our non-profit partners onsite, telling their story, demonstrating their impact and enjoying the time with our amazing drinkers and guests.

And then there’s the beer and cocktails… Many of our mission-aligned partners host events and fundraisers through the year. When and where’s it is allowed, we’re happy to support those partners with donations of our off-centered ales, cocktails or great Dogfish Head gear. We figure it’s a great way to help lower event costs and ensure there are tasty off-centered drinks on hand!
