Here at Dogfish Head, we thrive when we’re able to imbue our creative spirit into our everyday lives – from the beers we brew to the off-centered food specials at each of our restaurants to the social media posts and press releases we carefully craft. So, it makes perfect sense that we bring creative freedom to our events and invite our guests to show off their own brilliant minds.
Every year at the end of September, our guests run (or walk) the Dogfish Dash, a 5(ish)K that takes place at our Milton Brewery, to raise money for a good cause – in our 19th year, we had 1,400 race registrants and 750 dashers brave the Nor-Easter-like weather to raise a whopping $125,000 for this year’s local beneficiary, Sussex County Land Trust, whose mission is to safeguard the land and resources that make Sussex County special – ranging from farms, community parks, historic sites, forests, and beyond. While we love to lift our community up, we also love to showcase them too! Enter, the Recycled Costume Contest…
Before dashers take to the starting line, we invite them to get crafty and create their own original costume made solely up of recycled materials. From old beer cans, cardboard, bottle caps, labels, and more, our guests never cease to amaze (and even surprise) us with their outside-of-the-(recycled)-box thinking. This whimsical tradition is truly a fan favorite and comes with some pretty sweet prizes, like a private beer dinner, private tour, and, of course, some awesome off-centered Dogfish Head swag.
One of the highlights of the day is judging these costumes and getting to put our fans’ hard work on full display! Check out some of our favorites below:

When we let our imaginations run wild, look at all of the off-centered goodness we create! Thank you, Dogfish Head fans, for running with us!
