Permission to daydream granted

Daydream Playbook

A guide for dreaming, wandering, and following the sunshine wherever it leads.

Let your spirit wander

Explore your daydreams.

Somewhere along the way, daydreaming got labeled as a distraction. We disagree.

We believe wandering minds find the best paths. It’s the spirit Dogfish Head was built on, when our brewer & founder, Sam Calagione, chose to take the road less traveled more than 30 years ago. Instead of convention, he chose to follow curiosity. That’s the off-centered way of thinking that still guides how we brew, build and live today.

Consider the Daydream Playbook your invitation to do the same – slow down, wander a little and see where your imagination leads. In the weeks ahead, new stories, creative rituals, and conversations will take shape right here, featuring voices from across music, brewing and beyond. So crack open a beer and give yourself permission to drift. No rules. No outcomes required. Just the creative freedom to explore the open roads ahead.

A delicious daydream rooted in off-centered experimentation and musical exploration

The craft beer embodiment of the dreamer-like ethos Dogfish Head and the Grateful Dead share, our NEW Grateful Dead Citrus Daydream Lager is brewed with sustainable Fonio grain and rice, and brightened with lemongrass, lime and lemon peel for a crisp, clean taste reminiscent of sunshine and daydreams.

Entry #1

Every off‑centered journey starts with a moment where you choose curiosity over convention. In Sam's first entry, he reflects on his own journey off the beaten path. It’s a story about trusting the long way around, learning by doing, and why wandering has always been at the heart of Dogfish Head (and the Grateful Dead). Crack a beer, follow the thread, and click through to read the full story.
